CHANGING THE GAME AT MEALTIME

Philippians 1:6 …. Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

People talk about finding wellness, but the Bible speaks of being made whole.  As Antioch enters into our 2015 corporate fast, I am reminded that wellness is not limited to weight, physical fitness, or being free of illness; it is comprehensive, multi-dimensional, and holistic, inclusive of lifestyle, environmental, and mental well-being.  However, as large as this defining may seem, wholeness is even bigger.  For only through spiritual well-being can one find wholeness.

As we pray, fast, and study through our 40 Days of Devotion, the ability to have be strong in The Word and strong in our determination to complete the fast is fortified by our confidence that we are being made whole.  I am hoping that this blog and this recipes will help us to encourage each other along the journey.

LIQUID FAST IDEAS

Morning Blend

For the coffee and tea drinkers this will be good for you.

For an 8oz  cup

Half Apple Juice
Half Welch's 100% Orange Pineapple Apple Juice
pinch of ginger,
2 pinches of ground cinnamon
pinch of nutmeg
pinch of all spice

Or season to your desire and experiment with other juices.

Evening Blend

For those that are trying to hold true to the 3 day liquid fast, here are some ideas for making a hardier veggie drink.

To pure tomato Juice, add vegetable broth (such as carrot juice, the broth from mustard greens, or cabbage).  Place this in a pot on a low heat.  While heating add chopped onions, garlic, steak seasoning, etc. to create the taste you would like.  Once the blend has simmered (until onions are soft) strain the solids from the liquid and enjoy.  NOTE: As seen in the photos, you can make it thicker (spoon) or thinner (drink).

DURING THIS TIME KEEP IN MIND:

You can prepare greens (mustards, collards, turnips) or cabbage and use the liquids off them.  Simply cook them with more liquid than you might normally use, drain some of the liquid (pot liquor) off for drinking now and then store veggies for eating later.

Many of you already own “Juicers” and “Bullets” so liquefying things is not a problem.  However, you can also purchase tomato juice, canned vegetable broth or fresh vegetable broth from stores (Walmart, Kroger’s, etc.)

For those not participating in the 3-day liquid fast here are some ideas for Daniel's Fast meals.

Arrange your choice of fresh fruit (blueberries, strawberries, sliced peaches and kiwi) in an ice-pop mold. Then, pour in white grape juice or apple juice and freeze.

NOTE:  Most fruit can be blended – add agave – pour into mold and freeze.  If you don’t have molds, use a plastic cup and put the stick in once it starts to thicken in the freezer.  ALSO - Can make “cool cups” from juices too!!
